When a group of competitors are kidnapped from the Tour De France, a devoted Grandmother, Madame Souza, sets off across the Atlantic to rescue her only grandson, Champion. She follows the kidnappers to Belleville, the headquarters for the French Mafia, and is lost in the darkness of the city. In her search she meets the triplets of Belleville, three women who are now a bizarre jazz combo. When the whereabouts of her grandson is disclosed, Madame Souza enlists the help of the triplets to rescue her grandson from the most powerful man in Belleville.
The film is dialogue free (though there are some spoken words, they are incidental.)
